French New Wave
French New Wave is a cinema movement that occurred in France in the late 1950s to the 1960s. It was a new way of making films in a contemporary form going against the hollywood standards. It later influenced many great movies that are now considered classics. They consisted of different editing styles, film techniques and improvised acting to keep the sense of realism and rawness to filmmaking. Another noticeable factor is how they all have ambiguous endings to let the audience imagine the ending for themselves.
Ideas:
La Jetee - Scene of the non humans and him talking about why he should go back home.
400 Blows - Scene of the teacher speaking to the parent about the boy.
Breathless - The end when he gets shot but contemporary.
Breathless:
One of the reasons I chose this is because it is quite interesting in the aspect of French New Wave. It is shot very differently and a lot of it is improvised. I would like to remake the last scene of when he gets shot. But in my version I would like to make her the detective in the first place and I would also want her to be the one who shoots him. The reason for this is because in t he original I got the vibe of her being really cool and wanting to do the right thing. Whereas the remake she seems to be weak and very much in love with the criminal and this is why I would want to make a new version where she is still cool and not weakened by him. The main character which is a criminal would still be the same and so will she but she will care less about him and more about doing what's right. I would also want for it to be clear. I would also want to set it in the the present which I wouldn't need any special costumes as I just need him to be a normal business man. As it is a teaser trailer I would like the audience not to know he gets shot but instead keep the anticipation and suspense, I want to make them hold the guns to each other as if its an old west movie so that the audience has a choice to think who shoot and so they have to watch the movie so that they get the answer.

Storyboard:
• How effective was your teaser trailer?
It was quite effective as it has received positive feedback and I believe it correlates to the original 1960 french new wave film 'Breathless'. It has also succeeded in being a teaser trailer as it doesn't show the whole story or spoil the story but still makes the audience want to watch it as it enhances suspense and engages the audience.
• What influences have you taken from New Wave and incorporated?
For my French New Wave remake teaser trailer I have incorporated the black and white element, the average acting and the improvised dialogue. This is because I thought those are very distinct aspects of the new wave movement.
• Reflect on the technical elements that make up your trailer and the story.
The close ups make it more dramatic and it also makes the audience understand the characters and the storyline much better. The slow motion turn also adds to the suspense.
• Identify what areas you need to develop.
I believe that the elements i need to develop on is not moving the tripod when I am filming. I also need to learn how to edit colour in my films, as I think that's an important thing to consider when making a film in general. Another thing I will need to improve is the music as I could use my own music and match it up with the film so that it flows in synch.
Shot List
Final Edit:
I decided after I was finished with the editing, that it needed colour correction and also I needed some of the snakes to be in black and white. I wanted for some of the scenes to be black and white because the guns would look more realistic and so it enhance the film to make it more dramatic.

I then decided to take off the last scene as I didn't think it would be necessary and it is fine the way it is.
My storyboard is very elaborated, with visual scenes of how I want my shots to be like. I aim to make the short very close to what my storyboard is like. I also made sure to include the seconds and what exactly is happening in the scene aswell as the shot types I want the scenes to have.
