This dystopian post apocalyptic set in France is mainly about a town rationing because They don't seem to have enough food, a butcher kills people and feeds them to the rest of the town, as the town knows this, any foreign person from another place, is their next victim. The next victim is a man who is a clown, his partner was a chimpanzee who was eaten because keeping up with the theme of rationing, people had no choice. The butcher's daughter likes The clown and is trying to save him from getting killed.
Mise en scene:
-Lighting: dark, yellow colour grading, looks like an apocalyptic dystopian setting.
-Props: the butcher's main prop seems to be a knife, whereas the clown's seems to be a boomerang knife named 'Australian' this seems to come in handy for many of the occasions, its also foreshadowing what's going to happen later, such as that is how the butcher dies.
-make up and costumes: they seemed to use a more vintage style of clothing to enthesise that its no set in the present or the future but instead its set in the past.
Sound
Music: The music is very french theme based, probably to show that its set in France
Foley:
-Knife sharpening
-taping around body parts
-paper shuffling
-car driving
-door, footsteps
-water running/dripping
-toy, key, any household object
-musical instruments (a saw was used)

This movie is a post apocalyptic movie set in France. I picked one minute in the film, which contained quite a lot of sounds, this made me think about the Foley sounds that we learnt about, and how that makes the movie more interesting and enhances the depths of the sounds and makes the audience pay more attention to them, also sometimes the sound gets lost when making the movie so it's convenient to take the sound and record it again and edit over it.
The part of the movie I chose was the part that had a lot of sounds from 15 minutes to roughly 17 minutes, where all the characters, or mostly the main characters all started making noises simultaneously in their different rooms, the film shows different shots of each character doing their distinct sound. Firstly you have the spring noises, the sound was made from the bed, another character, which was the butcher's daughter, had her instrument, and the pace went in the same tempo as the springs and the metronome to help her play the instrument, on top of that, the other character which seems to be the main character, the clown's sound seems to be him painting the ceiling, the other one seemed to be pumping a bike wheel, and that seemed to go as the same pace as all the mentioned sounds, and lastly there is a woman patting the dust off the carpet, which all seems to be in sync to all the current sounds.
The sounds all seem to be household items, which means its easier to make it a foley sound.
For example, the springs could have been recorded after with other springs that made the same noise but louder so that the audience would understand where the sound was coming from, and to show what they are doing, and so that the sound is not weak when editing everything together, another example is the music when the butcher's daughter is playing her instrument, that is also known as Non-diegetic sound but also the metronome could be a foley because it would be hard to get the same sound from the same room, it's also louder at times, which makes sense, to show the viewer that they are trying to keep up the tempo.
The woman with the carpet could have been used as a foley, they could have made the same sound of a racket beating against carpet to make the same sound and added that to the edit after, the man pumping the bike, also could have been the same sound of the same item such as a wheel being pumped, so that the sound would come out as louder and they would add that so that the audience would understand the tempo of the whole scene. Finally the main character, was using paint and a brush, that could have been a multiple of different household items to make the foley sound, lastly that was also made in the same tempo.
